Clarifying the purpose of Bible805 and its part in the Great Conversation

2026-06-18 by bible805

The Great Conversation is my term for the combined teachings of all followers of Jesus as we attempt to share Him with our world. I believe it’s important to clarify the place of Bible805 in all the other options you have for learning the Bible, for those of you using my resources so there are no unrealistic expectations.

To do that, I’ll first clarify what I mean by the Great Conversation and then what I believe is my part and the part of Bible805 in it. Below is the podcast and then the text of it.

The importance of understanding the Great Conversation

Why you might have a tough time teaching the Bible today and how Bible805 can help

2026-05-26 by bible805

NOTE: this entry was originally done for my Ministry Miscellany Podcast and I am putting it in this section also as it is an excellent explanation of what Bible805 does and why I do what I do.

I’m full of disclaimers and caveats, and I know that there are exceptions to everything I say that follows. I acknowledge there are many ways to teach and disciple, but the Bible805 content-intensive system of teaching is what’s worked for me for many years, and it has resulted in significant spiritual growth in people that have taken my Bible classes.

To explain how I’ve come up with the methods I use in Bible 805 to enable you to know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible, we’re going to look at two apostles: Peter and Paul, the radically different audiences they faced, and how they used different methods to reach them.

We’ll then look at similar situations that occur in our world, and I’ll share how I put together the Bible805 foundation for Bible teaching, which I’ve summarized into 7 Observations:

First is a podcast of the material and then the script for it:

Review of the purpose and work of Bible805

The purpose of Bible805 is to help people know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible. All the materials (with the exception of  Yvon Prehn books sold on Amazon.com) to help people throughout the world do this are FREE to end users.

The free resources not only include the finished lessons, but through the Bible805 Academy, people have access to the raw materials in editable format of the PowerPoints of each lesson, the Notes, and Discussion Guides, plus the videos and audio versions without ads. These can be used however desired to create lessons or other materials for teaching the Bible and no attribution is required. The only limitation is that they cannot be repurposed and sold, though I encourage sharing.

I have been sharing Bible training and teaching materials for many years through the Bible805 website, podcast, and YouTube channel. About two years ago, I decided to organize all I had for others to use and make it available—which was the birth of the Bible805 Academy. After months of work, planning, and prayer, it was organized and many materials uploaded to it.

Then, with no warning, my husband, my partner in life and ministry for 30 years, had a massive heart attack and went home to Jesus. I deleted the additional details of my life difficulties in a previous version of this update and will skip ahead to what is going on now because…… [Read more…]

Know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible—what it means from Bible805 and to help, equip, and encourage you

2026-03-30 by bible805

Tools to help your people get into the Bible in the coming year.
The parts of Bible805 that will help you know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible.

I use these four terms, know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible to describe the ministry of Bible805. I’d now like to share what I mean by them in terms of what is available for you in the Bible805 ministry based on each term:

KNOW the Bible

I want to help you simply get to know the content of the Bible and from that the God of the Bible. It all starts there.

Because knowing is foundational to everything else, I emphasize again and again reading the Bible and specifically reading through the Bible in chronological order, and doing it every year.

There are many negative voices against that, even in church today—that people already know what’s in the Bible (few actually do), that reading frequently is legalistic, that too frequent reading leads to it being done without thinking about it, on and on. I do not think these objections are valid, and my recommendation is to read your Bible or listen to it; the point being to get its content inside you every day. [Read more…]
