Know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible—what it means from Bible805 and to help, equip, and encourage you

2026-03-30 by bible805

Tools to help your people get into the Bible in the coming year.
The parts of Bible805 that will help you know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible.

I use these four terms, know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible to describe the ministry of Bible805. I’d now like to share what I mean by them in terms of what is available for you in the Bible805 ministry based on each term:

KNOW the Bible

I want to help you simply get to know the content of the Bible and from that the God of the Bible. It all starts there.

Because knowing is foundational to everything else, I emphasize again and again reading the Bible and specifically reading through the Bible in chronological order, and doing it every year.

There are many negative voices against that, even in church today—that people already know what’s in the Bible (few actually do), that reading frequently is legalistic, that too frequent reading leads to it being done without thinking about it, on and on. I do not think these objections are valid, and my recommendation is to read your Bible or listen to it; the point being to get its content inside you every day.

If you do, the content of the Bible will become part of the background of your thought patterns. Knowing the overall story, the content of the whole Bible, will color how you read every part of the Bible—you’ll read things in context and as part of the grand story of the entire Bible. You’ll know when someone says something is in the Bible if it truly is.

One of the best things about this overall familiarity with the Bible is that you will get to know your God. From internalizing the content of how He has acted over millennia of human history, you develop a quiet trust in how He will act towards you.

A popular song from long ago had a line that said, “to know, know, know him is to love, love, love him.” Romance aside, when you get to know the God of the Bible, you will grow in your love for Him.

Here is the specific content from Bible805 that addresses getting to KNOW the Bible and your God:

Following are a couple of recommended foundational lesson series:

To know Him as Savior and Lord—salvation series, go to this link: https://bible805.com/category/bible805-bible-lessons/salvation-evangelism/

If you’d like to look at videos on the content of all the lessons and learn in that way, go to: www.Youtube.com/Bible805

If you want to listen to a Bible lesson podcasts, my primary one is

The Bible805 Podcast, https://bible-805.captivate.fm/ a variety of Bible-related lessons and groups of lessons, 30+ minutes, podcast 1x a week. I teach live classes on this and by Friday of the week I teach, I post on this site the audio link, YouTube video of the PowerPoint of the lessons and PDFs of both the Notes (which is basically a transcript of the lesson) and a Discussion Guide. If you want to teach the class, I make freely available ALL the resources for the lesson in their original format for you to modify and use at the Bible805 Academy.

Trust the Bible

For the timid in heart, for the untrusting, and honestly for all of us in our dark nights of the soul that we all have, we need to go beyond the knowing, the content alone to why we can trust these words that tell us about God.

I needed that and in the lessons series, https://bible805.com/category/bible805-bible-lessons/why-we-can-trust-the-bible/ I share how the study of history enabled me to develop a trust in the historically accurate and reality-based (not fantasy or myth or tradition) content of the Bible. Coming soon, I’ll have an updated and expanded version of these lessons, along with a paperback book of the content.

I include not only foundational teachings to help you in this area that the series above addresses, but also in the Bible lessons, I share archeological and historical information to help you trust the Bible. As applies in each lesson, I also critique various popular views, such as the incorrect assumption of those with anti-supernaturalist bias, that all Old Testament prophecy was written after the events took place. I show how views like these are simply incorrect and how we can trust our God who exists out of time to accurately predict future events.

Bible805 is not an apologetic site or ministry (there are many fine ones that do that), but since the Lord led me into the study of history to help me in my faith journey, I pass that along.

APPLY the Bible

Both of the above characteristics of the ministry are important, but they are primarily foundational, and if they don’t translate into life change, they are of little value. The goal of all in Bible805 is to help you become like Jesus, to grow in your apprenticeship or discipleship (whichever term you prefer) to enable you to be obedient to Him, to be motivated and skilled in your service to Him.

Bible805 is not a contemplative site (there are many great resources for that as well as for apologetics). I’m simply a practical sort of teacher and the content here will frequently clearly say, “application” and then go on to recommend specific actions. My goal is not for you to have a knowledge-filled, but dead faith, but one that is alive and active in your life and in service to the world.

Application sections and comments are in all the lessons. The never Hobo Soul Podcast, https://hobo-soul-podcast.captivate.fm/ is a casual faith encouragement with real-oife advice of about 10 minutes each, 2x a week.

TEACH the Bible

This aspect of Bible805 came a few years into the ministry after many requests for my teaching materials, which I was happy to share. Though everything on the core Bible805.com site is available for you to use or share as you see fit, I’ve developed another site specifically with the content in formats for you to use to teach the Bible. This is the www.Bible805Academy.com site.

Many pieces of content have been downloaded by churches all over the world thus far. At present, not all listed is as clear as I want it to be, nor are all the parts as editable as they will be.  I am working to change that and the goal is for the lessons I share at Bible805,  will then be reloaded to the Bible805 Academy, where you can download editable PowerPoint files, Notes for the class that are a virtual transcript of it, a Discussion Guide that consists of a summary, icebreaker question, discussion questions, application ideas, and a prayer, plus any infographics that relate to the lesson.

All of this content can be edited freely, shared, and used without attribution. The only limitations are that you cannot edit most infographics and that you cannot reformat and sell the material.

The teaching content itself is primarily on Bible805Academy, www.Bible805Academy.com.

KNOW, TRUST, APPLY, and TEACH the Bible—those are the ways Bible805 can help you.
