Though I love creating the materials for Bible805 and am committed to doing it until the Lord calls me home and though the resources on the site are either free or PWYW (pay-what-you-want), it is costly to create them. Your support helps me pay the bills.

The book of Romans, saved by grace alone; challenged to walk worthy
Romans is one of the most significant books in the Bible because it is a complete and systematic explanation of the Christian faith.
It is different than the other letters of the New Testament that were written to address specific problems in specific churches.
The focus in this book was to clarify the Christian faith and our salvation—to show from start to finish that it is by grace alone through faith alone, not adherence to Jewish laws, or human effort, that salvation is possible.
At the same time, it also clarifies God’s continuing expectations for those who have accepted His gift of salvation and challenges them to walk worthy. [Read more…]
What if the answer to exhaustion is not self-care? a challenge as we begin the New Year

I recently read an overview of books entitled “How Christians are prioritizing faith and rest.” On the first reading, on the surface, it was a well-written, thoughtful article on the need for rest and reflection amid the currently busy and overburdened, frantic, and frustrating lives many of us live.
Who can argue with a need for that? [Read more…]
The cost of focus if we truly want to mature or accomplish anything of spiritual significance in our Christian lives

Children are easily distracted.
A cookie can solve the most heartfelt tragedy; a toy can detract from a pinched finger; a hug can calm night terrors.
One of the characteristics of maturity is the ability to set aside distractions and focus on work that needs to be done. However, the reality for many of us is that as we get older, we don’t learn to focus better, we swap distractions.
The new distractions aren’t necessarily evil. They may include hobbies, vacations, time with family and friends, downtime, me-time, and many things done in the name of a “balanced life.”
But what if we want a significant life? What if we want to grow as Christians and truly pursue becoming like Jesus? What if we want to create a book, blog, video, or podcast that will enrich the kingdom of God? [Read more…]
Discipleship, What it means to follow Jesus
What does it mean to be a disciple? One of the best definitions I’ve read recently came from Wikipedia where it said,
Disciple (Christianity) a fully formed disciple, [is] a living copy of Jesus.
“A living copy of Jesus” what a wonderful goal to aspire to!
The lesson today talks about how to become a disciple from Jesus first invitation to “follow me” to his final command to “go into all the world and make more disciples.”

Infographic—the reliability of the Gnostic Gospels and Canonical Gospels compared
In contrast to some of the extravagant claims by scholars and the popular press, the Gnostic Gospels do not have a fraction of the historical, textual, or really any kind of credibility that the canonical New Testament documents have. The infographic here clearly illustrates this.

PRAY for and SHARE Bible805 with others
I recently shared a new way to financially support Bible805 (you can read more about that here), but there are additional ways to support the ministry that are also appreciated and enable us to help our world know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible!
The most important and first way is to support it with your prayers and second is for you to share the ministry with others. More on both follow. [Read more…]

Why isn’t Bible805 a nonprofit? And how you can support it anyway
I am praying about this and possibly in the next few years will seek nonprofit status.
At present, I am working so hard and many hours to simply get the content for Bible805 out on a consistent basis. I don’t have time to do all the work required for nonprofit status and I also don’t have the extra filing fees it will take to get a nonprofit entity put together. I do however need and would greatly appreciate your support now. [Read more…]
A question about Purgatory and why it is not a true Biblical doctrine
Intro note: The following was prompted by a question asked by one of the members of the Trust the Bible class I teach at my church.
Question:
I have a question in regard to ‘Purgatory’, which is this: What is the biblical justification for said place, or idea? [Read more…]
