The challenging faith of Alexi Navalny, who “did as required by the instructions and did not betray the commandment”

Alexei Navalny marching in 2017 Watching the final events of Alexi Navalny’s life, I couldn’t help but wonder why he did what he did and how he had such obvious peace and courage as he did it.

Russel Moore quoted him in a recent article and in it, Moore emphasized Navalny’s courage to stand alone.

Though admirable, I found another aspect of the quote, which I’ll discuss following it more challenging to me and to all who read and take to heart the values emphasized here on Bible805, which are to know, trust, apply, and teach the Bible.

Thousands of people all over the world have downloaded and used the materials provided by Bible805, and I am amazed and praise God for the outreach it has. For all the years of doing this, I’ve never taken advertising or participated in any affiliate marketing links or schemes,and with the exception of books that are sold on Amazon, all materials I create are free.

It has been gratifying to see the response of the many downloads from all over the world. I believe in large measure because they are free; however, they are not free to create and if you’d like to help, here are ways to do it:

#1, Pray for Bible805 and for me for strength, wisdom, and insight to create all God wants me to develop and to get it out to all the people He wants to reach with these materials. Please also pray for health, strength, and protection to do all I’m called to do. I work many, many hours each week and do all my own not only materials creation, but I produce all the videos, podcasts, and website updates.

#2, Give direct financial support to Bible805 & Yvon Prehn. I need your help. At this time, Bible805 is not a non-profit and there is no tax deduction for your donation, I am exploring ways to do that, but it will take a long time for that to happen and I’m not waiting on that to press ahead with the ministry. Your support is needed now for me and for the significant costs of ministry production in software, hardware, and online fees associated with the creation and distribution of the materials. I’ve started writing books again and have several currently for sale as I update this (I just added a Lenten Book and Journal) and hope to have lots more soon. The MOST IMPORTANT one that I would like everyone to get and share with their churches is START HERE! a plan for curious people to begin reading the Bible. The second one is a collection of images of quotes on the Trinity, entitled, The Trinity, an invitation to love, a pictorial quote collection.

PLEASE leave a review if you order a book and tell others about them–this is one of the MOST important things you can do to support the ministry.

#4, Watch the Bible805 YouTube channel–at www.YouTube.com/Bible805. At this time, if enough people watch your channel for enough hours, YouTube will pay the creator (me and the ministry). Realistically, this takes many, many thousands of subscribers (actually it seems millions these days….really…. I have almost 9,000 views of my shorts over the last 90 days, but it takes a minimum of 3 MILLION for them to pay the creator anything–but God can do it!) and many more thousands of hours watched for them to pay, but I am praying lots because not only would this supply needed monthly income for me, but those thousands of watch hours mean thousands of people are getting God’s Word taught to them! What a great Win/Win! I am extremely excited about the “shorts” I’ve been creating–do check them out!

#5, PLEASE tell people about the resources from Bible805. I am not able to afford any kind of paid marketing at this time, and even if I could, I know the very best way to get out the word about the resources of Bible805 is for people to tell their friends.In addition to friends, the materials on this site and especially on www.Bible805Academy.com are designed not only to teach individuals, but as resources for teachers anywhere in the world to use freely to teach the Bible. Let the mission organizations at your churches know about these things.  Your help in letting people know what is available is a greatly needed and I know these resources can be of great help to anyone who downloads them. The book of Romans, saved by grace alone; challenged to walk worthy

Romans is one of the most significant books in the Bible because it is a complete and systematic explanation of the Christian faith.

It is different than the other letters of the New Testament that were written to address specific problems in specific churches.

The focus in this book was to clarify the Christian faith and our salvation—to show from start to finish that it is by grace alone through faith alone, not adherence to Jewish laws, or human effort, that salvation is possible.

At the same time, it also clarifies God’s continuing expectations for those who have accepted His gift of salvation and challenges them to walk worthy. [Read more…]

I recently read an overview of books entitled “How Christians are prioritizing faith and rest.” On the first reading, on the surface, it was a well-written, thoughtful article on the need for rest and reflection amid the currently busy and overburdened, frantic, and frustrating lives many of us live.

The cost of focus if we truly want to mature or accomplish anything of spiritual significance in our Christian lives

A cookie can solve any problem when we’re a child; as we mature we need to learn to say no to the distracting equivalent of cookies in our lives.

Children are easily distracted.

A cookie can solve the most heartfelt tragedy; a toy can detract from a pinched finger; a hug can calm night terrors.

One of the characteristics of maturity is the ability to set aside distractions and focus on work that needs to be done. However, the reality for many of us is that as we get older, we don’t learn to focus better, we swap distractions.

The new distractions aren’t necessarily evil. They may include hobbies, vacations, time with family and friends, downtime, me-time, and many things done in the name of a “balanced life.”

But what if we want a significant life? What if we want to grow as Christians and truly pursue becoming like Jesus? What if we want to create a book, blog, video, or podcast that will enrich the kingdom of God? [Read more…]
