This lesson addresses three difficult questions: what happens to people who have never heard of Jesus, why innocent people suffer, and how believers can help those who are suffering.
Using Job as a key example, the lesson explains that God’s work and revelation extend beyond what we can see, and that we often do not know what God has made known to people in places and situations unfamiliar to us. Job also helps correct an unbiblical, transactional view of God that assumes obedience guarantees earthly prosperity and disobedience guarantees suffering.
The lesson shows that suffering can involve spiritual warfare, growth through pruning, and purposes beyond our understanding. It encourages believers to respond to suffering with kindness, honesty, prayer, and an eternal perspective, trusting that God is good, present, and in control even when outcomes do not improve in this life.
