Getting to know, trust, and apply the Bible is one of the most important things you need to do to grow as a follower of Jesus.
One of the most important things to help you know, trust, and apply the Bible is to read through the Bible in Chronological order, where you see God’s entire redemptive story of salvation from beginning to end.
Bible805 will start a series of weekly lessons on that again in Janurary 2023. I have lots of materials on this site on related lessons from the past, but between now and then, I have a series of foundational lessons.
Before we start reading through the Bible
If you believe a message is from God trusting and applying it makes sense. However, if you aren’t sure where the message came from or how we got it, how can we even begin to believe it is from God and worthy of our trust for this life and our eternal salvation? That is what this series is all about.
There is a tremendous amount of misinformation out there and many valid questions about the Bible, such as:
- How did we get the Bible we have today?
- Isn’t a lot of it, especially in the Old Testament just myth and legend?
- Wasn’t it copied so many times we can’t rely on it?
- Are there books that should be included that aren’t in it?
These questions and many more are covered in the Bible805 series on How We Got the Bible. In it, the lessons cover the history, manuscript evidence, and related information on how and why we have the Bibles we have and why we can trust them to teach us the very words of God. The true story of how we got our Bibles and why we can trust them is fascinating and will give you confidence and peace as you read it.
