READ this First, the unique characteristics of the Bible805 Thru the Bible in Chronological Order Plan

2026-01-08 by bible805

The Bible805 Chronological Reading plan is unique and useful.
The Bible805 Chronological Reading plan is unique and a useful way to approach reading thru the Bible in a year.

This series of lessons in both Podcast and video format of PowerPoint presentations goes along with the Through the Bible in Chronological Order Reading plan from Bible805. Please go to the website, www.Bible805.com for a download (or CLICK here for a copy) of the reading schedule in various formats as well as reproducible journaling pages.

Here is what makes this Read through the Bible Chronologically a bit different than some others you might be familiar with, first a podcast on it and following that the text version. Click HERE or on the image to get a copy of the schedule.

Try it this year and learn more about the Bible than you can imagine.

Format of the Lessons

THE MOST IMPORTANT distinction of the lessons is that they are not  verse-by-verse study or commentary—there are many good ones that are available through any search, this series of lessons, however, isn’t structured in that way.

This series of lessons from Bible805 consists of overviews of the key themes in the books, how they relate to similar teachings elsewhere in the Bible, plus added historical information on each book that will, among other things, clarify and illustrate the dating and cultural setting of the book.

For example, I’ll either show you on the video or describe in the podcast the archeological site that has uncovered streets and homes in Ur of the Chaldees, the land Abraham was called out of. In addition, you’ll see and I’ll discuss how advanced and rich this civilization was. When I discovered this, it totally changed my view of God’s calling. I previously thought (why, I have no idea) that Abraham simply moved from one desert tent wilderness to another.

But that isn’t the story at all! It was more like moving from a bustling city like L.A. to the Mojave Desert and pitching a tent there. Which puts a whole different spin on the story and also explains why it didn’t seem he was particularly wanting to leave the cities of Egypt and go back to Canaan when he went there.

This historical content is not simply interesting tidbits tacked on to Bible lessons, but in addition to helping us get a true picture of the bible characters, much of it adds important information that clarifies the timeline of when things that are talked about in the Bible and when they are fulfilled.  We can match up happened in world history with Biblical history; with prophecy foretold and prophecy fulfilled and have clear evidence that shows how our God exists outside of time and is able to tell us and fulfill ONE Story of the Bible.

In addition, these lessons will contain application challenges on the themes presented in the books.

If you want verse by verse commentary, here are some I recommend:

Warren Weisbe’s book, With the Word: The Chapter-by-Chapter Bible Handbook is a very simple, accessible and informative book that I’ve given out to my classes when I teach this series live.

For more in-depth, verse-by-verse commentaries, I recommend going to the Blue Letter Bible website, www.blueletterbible.org, which is free and where you will find (among others, they have quite a few) easy-to-understand contemporary commentaries by Don Steward and David Guzick and many classics, that though they might take a bit of effort to get through they are excellent, such as ones by Matthew Henry, Jamieson, Fausett & Brown, and numerous others.

To go along with the PowerPoint Presentation of the lessons, Lesson Notes and a NEW Discussion Guide and Journaling Prompts are included.

Participants in my live classes found the notes particularly helpful as they are an exact copy of the PowerPoint presentation and close to a transcript of the content of the class. I print them out in a format (that is available for you on Bible805.com and the Bible805Academy.com) where there is also a column for participants to take notes. I provide 3-ring notebooks for people in my live classes and they become quite valuable to class members.

In addition, I have discussion questions for each lesson. I break into groups after the overall presentation for people to be able to interact with the content in smaller groups.

I just added a NEW handout that consists of a Discussion Guide and Journaling Prompts

This publication consists of:

  • A summary of the lesson
  • Ice-breaker question
  • Discussion Questions
  • Application Suggestions
  • Prayer focus

It can be used in two ways:

As a Discussion Guide: for larger groups, recommend breaking it into smaller groups of 4-6 people to discuss the lesson. You can use whatever you like and time permits to talk about the lesson.

As a Journaling Prompt if you are listening to or watching the lesson on your own, you can use this publication as either a personal review or journal of your responses and thoughts. If you are teaching this material, it is a good tool to use for preparation.

Maybe quit here for the general podcast, and the following for Ministry Misc.

One last note for teachers of this material

One more thing that I’ve started doing that people in my live classes enjoy, is I added a final statement at the end of their discussion questions, “Come up with a question to ask Yvon—it can either be on the lesson or the Bible overall.”

Not every teacher may be comfortable doing something like this, but if you are, I highly recommend it. It gives you a chance to see where your people are in their understanding of the lesson and their Christian lives overall. And you can answer questions on the Bible or topics in their Christian lives they may not have thought of.

I think that pretty much covers the unique aspects of the Bible805 Chronological Bible Reading Plan.

Availability of the content

A new podcast lesson will come out weekly on Wednesdays and will available on most major podcast networks (though as I relaunch this, it might not be available immediately) it will for sure be hosted on the Captivate website, which is available through a link on the www.Bible805.com website. One advantage of listening through this site is that the podcast has a link where you can download a transcript of the lesson.  This is the direct link to it: The Bible805 Podcast, Thru the Bible in Chronological Order, https://thru-the-bible-cover-to.captivate.fm

The Bible805.com website, with links to all other sources, will have a post about each episode and links to the various formats on www.Bible805.com

The Bible805 YouTube Channel, www.Youtube.com/Bible805 will have the PowerPoint video of the lesson.

If you want to teach the lesson or share any part of it, go to the Bible805Academy, www.Bible805Academy.com. It is where the source PowerPoint, lesson notes, and the Discussion Guide and Journaling prompts, plus ad-free, Yvon Prehn taught videos of the PowerPoint lesson and audio files are available as either personal study resources or as resources to enable you to teach the materials. To make use of any of these materials to FREELY download, modify, and use without required attribution (the only limitation is that you cannot claim them as your own and resell them) go to www.Bible805Academy.com

One last encouragement

In many years of teaching the Bible, one of the most life-transforming things you can do for your students is to take them through the entire Bible in Chronological order. It will deepen their trust in God and confidence in the Bible more than anything else you can do.

This series of lessons has everything you need to do this, lessons, notes, discussion and application materials. I pray you will make the most of them as  you help your people follow Jesus more closely and become more like Him from their time in His Word.
